about

“The Prism”: Also a political rant. I definitely think this is my most political album to date. I wrote most of this music in 2007/08 and I had a lot to rage against. The lyrics could actually apply to a number of different public figures. Musically, I describe this song as Led Zeppelin meets Eminem meets Fiddler on the Roof.

lyrics

The Prism
(Joe Deninzon)

You’re seeing things through the wrong prism
And your prism is just a prison
And if you don’t adjust the mirror
You’re heading for a head on collision

Lights on take an intermission
Your thoughts plague you with indecision
Second-guessing your stated mission while we don’t have a pot to piss in

Put it off til tomorrow
We’re still drowning in sorrow
Break it all and you borrow
We’re still drowning in sorrow

You’re seeing things through the wrong prism
And your prism is just a prison
Take a knife through the nervous system
You’re breaking up the house we live in

You try to sell us on your big vision
But your vision is deep division
What you preach is a false religion
No intellect or intuition

Put it off til tomorrow
We’re still drowning in sorrow
Break it all and you borrow
We’re still drowning in sorrow

(instrumental)

Put it off til tomorrow

We’re still drowning in sorrow
Break it all and you borrow
Put it off til tomorrow

Put it off til tomorrow
We’re still drowning in sorrow
Break it all and you borrow
We’re still drowning in sorrow
